Reverse Engineering
The worn and
deformed dashboard console cover on the fuel tank of a 2014 Harley-Davidson
FXDF Dyna Fat Bob needed to be remodelled.
The first step was to 3D scan the damaged part using an Artec Space Spider high-precision metrology 3D scanner.
The digital file generated by the scanner was processed by Artec Studio 18 software, which could convert even the scale digital file into a solid body, ready for immediate production.
In this case,
this was not possible because the component was deformed and damaged. When we
designed the new CAD model, an attempt was made to consider all options that
would eliminate the appearance of cracks and deformation in the future while
not impairing the surface fit and assembly of the part.
